The historic Fritz Förster Building, centrally located on the TU Dresden campus, was extensively renovated and converted over a period of almost 10 years. With its completion, the university received a contemporary teaching, research and administration location, which houses a prestigious lecture hall, seminar rooms, PC pools and the security control center, among other things.

Müller-BBM undertook the specialist planning of the entire building physics on behalf of the SIB, including metrological surveys, simulations and monitoring. The challenge was to ensure adequate sound insulation for offices and classrooms, taking into account the historical building fabric and the listed appearance. The teaching and work rooms were equipped with room acoustics measures that integrate seamlessly into the interior design concept. Dynamic building simulations were used to optimize summer comfort in the large lecture hall.

Thanks to efficient building technology and energy-efficient refurbishment, including interior insulation plaster on the exterior walls, the CO2 reduction targets defined in the EE-EFRE program were achieved by a verifiable 15% compared to the previous state.

The project was awarded the German University Building Prize 2024.
