Room Acoustics
After a construction period of around two years, the new Hafenschule educational and sports facility on Hafenstrasse opened its doors in August 2017. A four-form entry elementary school with two sports halls and a daycare center offer space for around 420 pupils and around 170 pre-school children. The nursery rooms are located on the ground floor facing the inner courtyard, while the kindergarten rooms are located on the second floor. The elementary school, kindergarten and sports hall enclose a large courtyard like a protective belt, which not only forms the heart of the two facilities as a green center, but also serves as a play and learning area.
In line with the need to ensure good teaching and learning conditions in schools and educational establishments, high demands are placed on the room acoustics. In order to meet this quality standard, the implemented acoustic concept includes acoustically activated furniture in addition to the sound-absorbing ceilings. The damping measures are also consistently continued in the higher-level uses, so that the entire building has a pleasant acoustic atmosphere. From an energy point of view, the building owner's requirement to fall 30 percent below the legal requirements is met by increasing the thermal insulation standard of the building envelope and through a sustainable system concept.
