The historical and monument-protected ensemble of the Hamburger Kunsthalle underwent extensive renovation, expansion, and restoration works to enhance its use and contemporary appeal. Alongside structural and technical interventions, the museum complex adopted a new exhibition and tour concept. The modernization of spaces dedicated to research, restoration, and administration significantly improved working conditions. Additionally, a central event hall for educational programs and a museum café were created.A key aim of the renovation was to reactivate the original main entrance designed for the building. This entrance had to be closed shortly after the opening due to significant air movement issues within the building. Comprehensive room climate measurements were conducted by Müller-BBM Building Solutions to assess the foyer's climate situation. This allowed for the development of structural measures in close coordination with the building and HVAC planner, ensuring optimal conditioning of the foyer with the installation of a locally effective ventilation system.Preservation aspects were handled discreetly, particularly in determining acoustically effective measures in the exhibition spaces and thermal retrofitting measures of the building.
