The Museum of Bavarian History (MdBG), one of the most modern exhibition centres in Europe, was built in just four years. The permanent exhibition on the history of Bavaria from 1800 to the present day is presented to visitors over an area of 2500 m², with a further 1000 m² available for special exhibitions. The museum building also houses a Bavarian library with media rooms, a library and a picture archive in a separate building. With the expansion into virtual space, new standards are being set in museum education in particular. The showroom offers an impressive experience with a 360° panorama on which media installations on Bavarian history are presented.

The Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte offers exemplary facilities in every respect, e.g. accessibility, inclusion, passive house standard, air conditioning from waste water, CO2-free heating and cooling as well as showcases without pollutant emissions and ideal acoustic conditions. The light-flooded foyer with its impressive diamond-shaped glass ceiling references the lost Hunnenplatz and serves as the central entrance area. Sound-absorbing surfaces have been skilfully integrated into the steel girders of the glass roof and the window frames so that they are almost invisible to visitors. These ensure a good ambience so that guided tours and presentations are acoustically flawless.
