The Academy of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has built a new seminar and training center at its site in Bonn-Röttgen. Designed by Waechter + Waechter Architekten BDA, the building with its cluster-like open learning landscapes provides an ideal setting for teachers and students. The building has a high energy standard and exemplary sustainability, which is documented by the DGNB certificate in gold (NBI 15). The above-ground floors are largely constructed as lightweight timber structures with a high proportion of glass in the façade area. At an early stage of planning, the summer climate conditions were examined and optimised by means of thermal simulations. The positive effect of regenerative floor cooling and suitable sun protection measures was worked out in close cooperation with the architects.
in close cooperation with the architects. Adequate sound insulation is provided, among other things, by a specially adapted timber supporting structure in the form of hollow box elements. A further special feature is the open learning landscapes, which are open learning landscapes which, due to the installation of a full-surface acoustic ceiling and partial wall absorbers, they meet the standard for classrooms and therefore and thus allow flexible use.
