The archives of the regional church, the church districts and many parishes have been brought together and made accessible to the public in the new regional church archive. The new building planned by O+M Architekten thus offers parishes the opportunity for the first time to store their archive material if they are unable to store it properly and make it usable themselves.

A suitable climate concept was developed for the stacks to ensure that the new building offers optimal climate conditions for conservation. This is characterized by the minimal use of building services, which means that both the investment costs and future operating costs could be kept very low. In order to ensure that the building is operated in a way that conserves resources and, above all, that the high climate requirements in the warehouses are met, detailed climate simulations were carried out and used to optimize the planning. The result is a very constant indoor climate within the limit values, which provides optimum conditions for the archive material. In addition to the actual stacks, the new building also houses work rooms for the archivists, as well as a reading room for visitors and a lecture room for events.
