The former state bank building in the centre of Munich, just a few steps away from Theatinerstrasse, was completely gutted and opened as the new headquarters of the HVB Group in summer 2005 after more than 10 years of planning and construction.
The building with its listed facade houses not only the offices of the Management Board members, but also versatile event rooms. In keeping with a long tradition, the building's listed status was honoured to a high degree. As part of the building physics consultation, the listed building had to be harmonised with the intended use and the planned air conditioning of the board offices and meeting rooms. A very high level of sound insulation had to be achieved for the sensitive executive offices with confidentiality requirements. Elaborate measures were also planned for the meeting and seminar rooms throughout the building to achieve the best possible sound insulation.
Room acoustics solutions were developed for the large, prestigious foyer areas in collaboration with those involved in the planning, so that a large number of different events can now take place within the building. In some cases, new constructions were also used from a building acoustics perspective, such as the glass ceiling construction between the Grand Foyer and the Maximilian Hall below.
