Room Acoustics
As planned by architects Hilmer Sattler Albrecht the existing building, located on Berlin's Museum Island is to become a modern technically optimized museum while saving the original appearance of the Schinkel building. It houses the Classical Antiquities collection of the National Museums in Berlin. Contrary to the original time schedule the extensive refurbishment of the building has not been carried out to date.Müller-BBM Building Solutions provided all services for thermal and hygric building physics as well as building and room acoustics from preliminary planning to approval planning. In the area of thermal building physics, the focus was on the energy-efficient upgrading of the building envelope in compliance with the listed building regulations. Efficient box-type windows were developed. The previously unused basement will be available for full use in the future with an entrance foyer, checkroom and ticket office, etc. This required the planning of a new water pressure-tight foundation structure. When planning the room acoustics, a particular challenge was to upgrade the Schinkel Rotunda without interfering with the existing building fabric.
