The group of buildings, erected at the beginning of the 20th century and now protected by a preservation order, comprises four connected industrial halls which were converted into an “art installation hall“ in 2002 – 2003. Being the main venue of the arts festival “Ruhrtriennale“, it offers unique performance conditions thanks to the special ambience created by its industrial history and to the manifold options presented by the stage machinery and media technology installed. Performances range from classical music concerts and opera events to drama and extravagant TV shows.Reflecting the desired maximum flexibility and at the same time highest quality standards, Müller-BBM designed the room acoustics as well as the entire sound reinforcement system to a large extent with mobile systems. For optimized room acoustics, a concept including mobile reflectors and electroacoustic elements was prepared which make it possible to perfectly meet the specific requirements of the quite varied types of usage. Given the extensive infrastructure, the high-class sound reinforcement system was installed in such a way that it may be used in each individual hall with minimum installation effort only and in virtually any configuration.
