With a new building in the north of Essen, the RWE Group is concentrating all employees working in energy trading, natural gas procurement and wholesale markets in Germany at one location. The centrepiece of the five-storey office building is the traders' hall with around 250 workstations.

Due to the dealers communicating loudly throughout, the focus in the dealers' hall was on creating a high-quality acoustic environment. A full-surface acoustic ceiling, sound-absorbing cupboard doors and the room-structuring arrangement of the furniture contribute to the efficient reduction of the noise level.
In the individual offices and open-plan areas, the ceiling surfaces were not available for sound-absorbing measures due to the concrete core activation, meaning that the rooms are now sound-absorbed by means of furniture fronts with detailed acoustic activation and shielding, sound-absorbing partition walls. The building acoustics requirements between and to the cellular offices were met by highly sound-insulating transparent doors and walls. Compliance with the building and room acoustic quality was ensured by test bench and acceptance measurements on site. Project planning was carried out for the entire property to ensure compliance with the KfW 60 standard.
