As part of the modernisation of the Donauhallen, a new event space for the annual Donaueschingen Music Days has been created between the existing Mozart Hall and Bartók Hall building complexes. The new Strawinsky Hall has a capacity of up to 400 people, depending on the size of the stage, and offers ideal acoustic conditions for the desired versatile utilisation profile. This means that classical concert events with orchestra, soloist or choir can take place just as well as theatre performances, conferences, congresses, electronic music events and jazz evenings.
Mobile acoustic measures, which are visually concealed behind the blue louvre structure in almost all wall areas, ensure an extraordinarily high level of acoustic variability in the hall. In addition, the entire floor of the hall is equipped with movable podiums, so that the seating can be arranged individually depending on the event and the podium can be set up almost anywhere in the room in the desired size. The acoustically optimised geometries of the ceiling, gallery soffit and side wall as well as the inclined glass façade ensure good direct sound coverage for the audience thanks to favourable sound reflections. The acoustic suitability of the variable sound absorbers, including the louvre panelling and the mobile, stackable seating, was tested by measurements in the Müller-BBM laboratories prior to installation.
