Sound Isolation
The building is exposed to significant external noise pollution from the adjacent port facilities and industrial areas, the nearby highway, and a busy railway line that crosses a steel bridge. This meant that the acoustic design of the large glass exterior facades, in combination with the requirements for heat and sun protection, was particularly important. In connection with the anchoring of the screen, the development of structural measures was an essential task. For structural reasons, it was not possible to thermally separate the solid steel substructure at the level of the building envelope, so measures were developed to ensure the airtight design of the penetration and the internal thermal insulation. For the room acoustics design, special solutions were developed that were tailored to the concrete core activation in the building.
