Building Acoustics

For the new primary and music school in Ulten / St. Walburg, a modern educational facility with a wide range of uses was built. The new building was integrated into a slope with a considerable height difference between the adjacent street level and the base of the plot. Although the elementary school is spatially separated from the music school, the building structures are open for joint use. The school's auditorium serves as a multi-purpose room and can also be used for church events, among other things.

The building acoustics planning focused on the best possible acoustic separation of the different music and rehearsal rooms. For the drum rehearsal room, special building acoustics facing shells were therefore developed for walls and ceilings in order to achieve a very high level of structural sound insulation both to horizontally adjacent rooms and to rooms above. As part of the room acoustics planning, room acoustics measures were developed for each individual classroom depending on the instrument groups to be taught and in accordance with the user requirements. In conjunction with variable sound absorption measures, the acoustic conditions in the rooms can be adapted to the respective situation by the music students and teachers.
The room acoustics measures for the auditorium were chosen so that the room is suitable for a wide range of uses.
