The new high school building is divided into two parts, the school building and the sports hall. Both parts of the building are connected by a corridor and thus form a meandering ensemble of buildings.

In addition to classrooms and specialist rooms, the school building for up to 960 pupils also has an assembly hall, a library, a canteen and a multi-purpose room. The triple sports hall is used for school sports as well as extended use for club and competitive sports and has a total of approx. 550 spectator seats.

A higher energy standard was achieved for both parts of the building, which means that the requirements of EnEV 2009 were undercut by more than 25 %. This higher standard is achieved through a combination of structural and technical measures. A summer climate concept was also developed for the classrooms, which, in conjunction with suitable window openings, enables cooling at night. The secondary school is located in the vicinity of a railroad line, which made it necessary to dimension the exterior components appropriately in terms of sound insulation. At the same time, investigations into the acoustic compatibility of the school and sports facilities with the nearby residential use were necessary. The corresponding measures were included as stipulations in the building permit.
