In addition to the premises for the professional fire department, Fire Station 4 also houses the Munich volunteer fire department, disaster control and the new integrated control center ILSt. Based on a design by agn Niederberghaus & Partner, a striking building was constructed at Heßstraße 120 in the center of Schwabing.

Due to the very noisy use and the inner-city location with directly adjacent buildings in need of protection in the neighborhood, special measures were required for noise immission control. For example, the TG exit was lined with sound-absorbing material and additionally shielded from the neighbors. In the area of the exercise yard, a shielding system with partial roofing was dimensioned, which, in addition to its function as a noise protection measure, allows maintenance and exercises to be carried out outdoors, protected from the weather. Within the building, the focus was not only on classic building acoustics consulting, but also in particular on the high-quality room acoustics of the integrated control center ILSt. The sensitive rooms in the building, especially the rest rooms of the professional fire department, were protected against the outside noise that is always present in the inner city by high-quality window constructions.
