Sound Isolation
To expand the clinic site in Gehrden, a new building has been constructed directly next to the central entrance area. The aim of the construction project is to improve comfort for patients and to adapt the floor plan to an optimized operational organization. The construction project includes a central emergency room and radiology on the ground floor, nursing areas on the 1st and 2nd floors and intensive care and intermediate care capacities on the 3rd floor. The 4th floor will be occupied by the necessary building services.
In the interests of high energy efficiency, attention was paid to a very good thermal quality of the building envelope in the new extension. Extensive acoustic measures were required inside the building and on the external components in order to ensure the necessary peace and quiet for the patients.
The acoustic measures of the building services installations in the technical rooms and on the roof were designed to minimize sound transmission into the wards. To avoid disruptive sound transmission, elastic mounting was used for all medical equipment, such as the magnetic resonance tomograph and the computer tomograph. The respective installation rooms also received acoustic encapsulation with facing shells.
