The new psychiatry building on the grounds of the Haar district hospital near Munich is divided into two construction phases and comprises a central pavilion building, two ward blocks, which also house treatment and therapy rooms, as well as connecting buildings to the existing buildings. All nursing rooms are oriented towards the park, the common rooms towards the so-called veranda. This forms the center of the ward and offers patients a private outdoor area that opens up to the park via individual patient gardens.
The development of constructions that are safe to build and very durable was the main focus of the new psychiatric ward. This applied both to details with thermal insulation and sealing relevance and to structural and room acoustic components. In collaboration with the architects, a solar shading system was developed in the form of sliding shutters with slatted cladding, which can also be used as weather protection for the window ventilation sashes. This makes it possible to effectively cool the patient rooms at night. For the communal and communication zones of the buildings, care was taken to reduce the reverberation time appropriately for the respective use. Sound-absorbing cladding has been installed in the wall and ceiling areas for this purpose.
