As the central hub of the Augsburg Innovation Park, the Technology Center Augsburg (TZA) was constructed as a key research, development, and production facility for carbon fiber–reinforced plastics (CFRP). The building brings together expertise, resources, and infrastructure dedicated to this advanced material. A multifunctional communication area connects office and administrative spaces with laboratories and workshops, creating an open and creative working environment. The low-rise hall structure, with a gross floor area of approximately 3,000 m², is designed as an industrial building and serves production, processing, and research purposes. Its flat roof is equipped with a photovoltaic system.

Due to its special type of use and the size of its contiguous functional units, the building is classified as a special-purpose structure within Building Class 5. In accordance with the Industrial Buildings Directive, the hall is assigned to Safety Category K2. It is subdivided into four fire compartments separated by fire walls and fire-resistant floor assemblies and is equipped with a building-wide automatic fire detection system. The specific requirements for operating the photovoltaic system were duly taken into account and supplemented by a lightning protection system. In addition, escape and rescue plans, fire brigade plans in accordance with DIN 14095, and a fire protection regulation in Parts A, B, and C were prepared.
