The Augsburg Technology Center was built as the heart of the Augsburg Innovation Park. The TZA brings together all resources, expertise and facilities relating to CFRP. Due to the planned process flows, the basic concept of the building provides for a multifunctional communication area that connects office and administrative facilities with the laboratories and workshops, thus creating a creative and productive working environment. The flat hall building with a gross floor area of approx. 3000 m² is used for the production, recycling and research of carbon fiber materials and is classified as an industrial building. Its flat roof is fitted with photovoltaic elements.

The structure is a building of a special type and use, which is to be classified as a special building and, due to its height and the size of the connected usage units, as building class 5. The hall assessed in accordance with the industrial building guidelines is assigned to safety category K2. In total, it was divided into four fire compartments, which were secured by fire walls and fire-resistant ceilings and equipped with a comprehensive automatic fire alarm system.
The special requirements and recommendations for the operation of photovoltaic systems were observed and implemented. Due to its height and the photovoltaic system, the building was also fitted with a lightning protection system. Finally, escape and rescue plans, fire department plans in accordance with DIN 14 095 and fire safety regulations with parts A, B and C were drawn up.
