The extension to the production facility of furniture manufacturer Brunner in Rheinau/Baden integrates offices for administration and development as well as a company restaurant and a showroom in addition to production, testing and research workshops. The final assembly of the furniture takes place in the two-storey part of the building, while the workshop and shipping department are located in the rear hall.
As a special feature of the building, natural gas-powered heat pumps were used for heating and cooling when drawing up the building code certificate in accordance with EnEV and the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG). One challenge of the building acoustics consultation was the fact that there are offices in need of protection directly adjacent to the noisy production areas. The workstations intended for administration as well as for research and development purposes were to have direct access and visual contact to the production areas, while at the same time enabling concentrated activities. In order to develop an adequate solution, the acoustic conditions in the existing production area were examined using measurement technology. Based on this, acoustically suitable partition wall constructions were selected and corresponding connection details were worked out.
