The University of Applied Sciences for Health (hsg) is the first component of the overall Health Campus (GC) NRW initiative. It is the first nationwide university for health professions under state sponsorship. The six-story new building of hsg includes an institute building with office, seminar, and laboratory rooms for occupational therapy, midwifery, speech therapy, nursing, and physiotherapy. The adjacent building is a shared events venue utilized by hsg, GC partners, and other interested parties. It houses three lecture halls and the auditorium, a cafeteria, a library, and a conference area. The university thus accommodates 1300 students.

Müller-BBM Building Solutions provided overall consulting for the thermal and hygric building physics domain, including the preparation of EnEV (German Energy Saving Ordinance) certificates. The project was supervised through service phases LPH 1 – 8, including the inspections required in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia by an expert listed for thermal insulation.

For sensitive building areas with a high proportion of glass surfaces, room climate conditions were optimized using thermodynamic building simulation calculations. For the cafeteria, an energy optimization of the facade structures was carried out, along with the development of a natural ventilation concept that avoided complex technology.
